How Did We Get Here?

I think we all have those days that we wake up and realize that we’re in a different place than the last time we came up for air.  We dig in and keep punching away at the business of taking care of business, and before we know it, you and Toto are quite sure you’re not even in the Midwest anymore, let alone Kansas.  I’m lucky in the fact that once I had this realization, I was surrounded by as much color and magic as Dorothy found herself.

The climate was still and the day was calm.  I was working a decent job, for decent people.  Earning a decent wage, and living a decent life.  I was relatively content.  That was precisely the reason that something was off.  It was never my nature to do what was normal  or expected of me.  I have always been compelled to make my own choices, and draw my own conclusions.  It was the life of a good adult.  Paying bills, and punching the clock, became the goal.  I can’t say when it was exactly that I let this happen.  When had being a cog in the clockwork become my driving force in life?  Well, the climate changed.

The Maelstrom

Much like the weather in my home town of Saint Louis, the outlook often looks unclear.  No meteorologist could have forecast the change that was coming my way along the jet stream.  She was from my past, a girl from the innocence of childhood.  I remembered this sweet, quiet, and studious little blonde, with a smile so big that her eyes closed during the grin, an interesting contrast to my talkative and mildly rebellious tendencies.  We did both agree that ever since the old times of Kindergarten, there was a special place in our hearts for the other.  After so many years and many adventures apart, we found each other again.  We inspire one another to do what we dream, to be who we are, and to that end, we’re glad that this isn’t Kansas anymore.  This is the beginning of our story, and we’re going to make it a good one.

Stay tuned, the fun has just begun……
